Animal Allies is for animals! Our non-profit advocacy organization focuses on rescue, foster home-care, and adoption of homeless dogs and cats. Our volunteers care for animals that require extended care prior to adoption: the abused, sick, injured, orphaned or nursing. We address issues that affect owned and shelter populations, such as spay/neuter, animal health and community education.

Note: On July 7th we will also be at Petsmart Rosedale Mills, Route 31  Pennington, NJ from 12-4 with cats & kittens. Visit our website for more info.

Our outreach program directly alleviates animal suffering and overpopulation, offering low-cost spay/neuter services, medical treatment, food, and other supportive services to owned pets in threatened circumstances. Our mission is to stop animal suffering. We offer our assistance when there is a need for spay/neuter, education, and supportive services.

Please join GFNJ for a M&G ! Please contact Dina Kimmel for information [email protected]
We will need greyt volunteers and beautiful hounds today and for future monthly Meet & Greets at this store location. Please let us know if you can help.
Website is http://www.greyhoundfriendsnj.org/info/events

Greyhounds still come to GFNJ from the Hopkinton kennel, directly from the New England tracks and, in times of crisis, from Florida, Georgia, Mexico or wherever greyhounds need help. GFNJ is an independent organization but still works cooperatively with the original Greyhound Friends of Mass.

On arrival, all dogs are spayed or neutered, inoculated, and heartworm tested. The minimum adoption donation is $235.00. Generally, dogs are taken to a boarding kennel until they are adopted. To GFNJ, finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds is a labor of love. Today, that devotion finds homes for more than 250 greyhounds each year. The Greyhound Friends philosophy: Accept those greyhounds in need of a safety net, regardless of gender, size, color or age. There is a home out there for every one of them; it's our job to find it.

Pet Therapy at Oakland Living Assisted Care Center

Oakland Care Center
20 Breakneck Rd
Oakland, NJ 07436

Jethro is a rescued Great dane therapy dog --rescued from a pet store by Kathy & Steve Wyder that spends time with  dozens of  patients during a two-hour visit each Sunday at Oakland Care Center, a 215-bed nursing home on a leafy hillside in Oakland. Developmentally disabled residents also welcome Jethro and his owner Kathy Wyder of Oakland once a month at Spectrum for Living in Closter.

During his nursing home visits, Jethro trots silently from room to room. He licks the faces of patients who like it and dutifully spares those who don't. If anything, his size is an asset to wheelchair-bound and bedridden patients who cannot bend down.

"The residents truly look forward to his visits," the center's administrator, Alyse Jasinski, Jethro was named to NJ veterinary group's hall of fame. http://www.oaklandcarecenter.com/

Pet Adoption Fees Waived For All County Veterans
Military men and women in Burlington County now may have another “friend” waiting for them at the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien today unveiled the shelter’s “Free Pets for Vets” program, through which all county veterans may adopt a dog or cat free of charge.
“It is well know that companion animals can help to reduce stress, depression and anxiety,” said O’Brien. “What we’re doing is reducing the barriers for adopting animals for those who, we believe, will truly appreciate the companionship.”

The typical cost of adopting from the shelter runs anywhere from $45 to $100, depending on whether it is a cat or dog, and the age of the animal. All animals are neutered or spayed before being adopted out.

Veterans interested in adopting will need to fill out an application form and show a copy of their DD-214 or County Veteran ID Card. The typical waiting period runs anywhere from one to seven days, depending upon the animal.

“All County residents in the market for a pet should consider the shelter,” said O’Brien. “Visitors are welcomed to walk through the kennels, and acquaint themselves with our ‘occupants’ who are looking for new homes.”

The Animal Shelter is located on Pioneer Boulevard in the County’s Westampton Complex, off Woodlane Road. open  everyday but Sundays and holidays. Phone number is (609) 265-5073.
Monday & Thursday 12pm - 7pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 12pm - 4pm
Saturday 12pm - 3:30pm  Sundays & Holidays closed.

The Burlington County Animal Alliance is a rescue organization that rescues and promotes the pets in the Shelter. BCAA does not represent the Animal Shelter, but we try to save endangered animals who have run out of time. Petco Freehold

Freehold, NJ 07728

JERSEY SHORE ANIMAL CENTER reopened its doors in 1981. It was formerly called the Brick Humane Coalition, Inc.

It is a non-profit animal shelter governed by a volunteer board of directors. We are  committed to the rescue and care of unwanted, abused, abandoned, sick animals and to the adoption of these animals to responsible, loving homes. To that end, veterinary care is provided as needed, medication and inoculations are given and neutering/spaying is done prior to adoption unless the animal's health or age precludes this procedure.

In addition, a compassionate staff tends to providing for each animal's physical and emotional needs, taking care to keep each one sheltered, clean, well-fed and socialized.

Succasunna, NJ 07876

One Step Closer Animal Rescue, Inc.(OSCAR) was started because its volunteers saw they could do so much more to help animals. Many times we get asked how we got into rescue work. Our rescue’s founders started off with dog walking at a local shelter, then fostering and fundraising, then took the big leap into starting a rescue. We always felt we had the drive and passion to work hard to save as many lives as we could; we just needed to start a rescue to do so.  Visit our website fo info
